Parking | On week days, parking is allowed near the ZOO entrance (15 zł). During weekends, park your car on a large ZOO parking lot about 1 mile from the entrance (15 zł); you will not be permitted to drive any closer. Take a bus from there to the ZOO (runs every 25 min.) or take a walk in the Wolski Forest (note: the trail surface is not paved; manageable for strollers with larger wheels, not recommended for regular pushchairs)

Stroller, wheelchair access | Yes, large spacious areas, designed to accommodate strollers. Depending on the size of the stroller, entrance might not be possible to some exhibits in smaller buildings (i.e. terrarium).

What to do | The Krakow ZOO is located in the Wolski Forest, close to the city’s center. The ZOO features nearly 1500 animals, representing about 260 species. They also have a nice playground for kids and a well-kept mini-ZOO, where kids can run and feed ponies, chickens, rabbits, goats and pigs. The ZOO is open from 9:00am – 7:30pm during spring and summer months.

Price, discounts | Cash only. Admission 18 zł. Discount for children, students and retirees 10 zł. Children under 3 years of age enter free.

What to do | The Garden of Experiences, an open-air education exhibition, covers the area of 6 ha within the Polish Pilots Park in Krakow. Click here for a list of exhibits.

Hours | Open from April until October. New exhibits added in 2013. Hours of operation Mo-Fri 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m., weekend 10:00 a.m. - 7 p.m.

What to do | Very popular place for walks and sports. There are two main playgrounds at the park; both have slides, sandpits, swings, climbing constructions, etc. Asphalt alleys of the park are a great place for roller-skating, biking or walking with a stroller. There are volleyball, basketball and football playfields, ramp skating, and a small pond. Catering facility in the park. Sledding hill.

Market Square [Rynek]

 

Where | Downtown. Market Square or Main Square known in Polish as Rynek Glowny (map)

Parking | We usually park at Stary Kleparz (reasonable prices, easy to park & pay the assistant, free on Sundays. 10-minute walk from here to the Market Square with a stroller) or at Teatr Słowackiego (more expensive, but very close to Rynek, guarded). 

Stroller, wheelchair access | Yes. Traffic in Rynek and some surrounding streets is restricted so kids can run free if it's not too crowded. Some sidewalks are narrow, be prepared if you have a wider stroller. Old, large cobblestones cover most areas of Rynek - large wheels work better on these.      

What to do | Take a stroll, watch numerous performers or events taking place at Rynek, visit little markets and Sukiennice - the distinctive building in the center of Rynek with little shops that sell traditional Polish crafts. Kids will love chasing | feeding pigeons, you can grab a snack at any of numerous coffee shops or restaurants, take a carriage ride, shop, visit kids-friendly museums and galleries, old buildings and churches.
